Gridline — AEC Architecture Agent Team (12 Specialists, 30 Skills)

Building-design agent team: an architect-lead directs 12 AEC specialists — drawing producer and reviewer, BIM/IFC automation, quantity audit, life-safety, building-performance and site-code review, construction admin — over 30 skills. A brief becomes concept drawings, layered DXF sheets, schedules and revision-impact reports. Runs in Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI; Python 3 drives the drawing engine. Conceptual output, not statutory approval. MIT plus a GPL-2.0-or-later Blender worker.

    Repository Agent Instructions

This repository maintains portable architecture/AEC Agent Skills and provider adapters.

    Priorities

    • Keep canonical portable skills in skills/<name>/SKILL.md.
    • Keep provider-specific behavior thin; do not fork domain logic unnecessarily.
    • Treat token/context efficiency as a feature.
    • Preserve beginner-first installation paths and documentation.
    • Never claim architectural, planning, structural, fire, accessibility, legal, or construction compliance without authoritative evidence and appropriate human review.
    • Verify provider formats against current official documentation before changing manifests, install locations, or agent schemas.
    • Keep Claude plugin skill copies synchronized with canonical skills/; CI must fail on drift.
    • Prefer additive, backward-compatible changes.
    • Run python3 tests/check_repo.py and python3 -m unittest discover -s tests -v before committing repository changes.

    Release discipline

For substantial changes, update CHANGELOG.md and relevant docs. Keep versions synchronized across provider manifests.

    Changelog

    Unreleased

    • Prevent destructive revision-impact --out collisions with either source JSON (including hardlinks and symlinks); atomically replace reports, clean temporary files and return a controlled nonzero exit on write errors. Preserve previous reports when replacement fails. Distinguish absent project/element fields from explicit null in changed-field receipts. Eight focused regressions reproduce the prior unsafe writes/missed metadata and verify recovery; provider-neutral implementation remains synchronized. Not a concurrent filesystem-race guarantee.

    • Prevent false NO_INDEXED_CHANGES for unresolved wall/room level, opening host or receiving-room links in either revision. Report additive stale_model_references with revision and reason, conservatively flag indexed sheets/dimensional schedules, and trace room edits to receiving-door-only detail sheets and the door schedule. Eight adversarial/compatibility regressions; preserve read-only APIs and provider parity.

    • Conservatively detect added, removed and modified unclassified top-level building-spec fields (e.g. site, datum and materials) during read-only revision-impact analysis. Flag all indexed sheets rather than returning a false NO_INDEXED_CHANGES; distinguish absent keys from explicit null, reject malformed project objects, and add four regressions. Unknown schedule dependencies remain a manual-review limitation; preserve report schema and provider parity.

    • Pin read-only MCP project JSON reads to no-follow, descriptor-relative regular-file handles on POSIX and enforce the 5 MB limit on bytes actually read. Reject ancestor/leaf symlink swaps and post-stat file growth with adversarial tests. Preserve the portable pathname fallback where dir_fd is unavailable (including Windows), explicitly documenting its remaining race limitation; this does not grant native host access.

    • Detect grid additions/removals/geometry edits and changes to units, drafting standard or schema version in read-only revision-impact analysis. Conservatively flag every indexed sheet for grid/document-setting changes, flag unit-dependent schedules, reject duplicate grid IDs and add regression coverage. Preserve existing report keys and provider parity; this is not exported drawing/PDF verification.

    • Document inputs, outputs, units, mutation and failure boundaries for all 23 functions in the Blender bridge and geometry checkers (blender_native, blender_native_worker, glb_qa, mesh_qa, wall_topology; #36). Docstrings only: syntax trees are otherwise identical. Their SHA-256 hashes change, so native evidence recorded against earlier hashes cannot be reused as-is.

    • Bind the signed canonical-state head to the latest owner-approved commit event, including the exact previous state and rebase outcome. Reject silent rewinds to a previously signed content hash and forged/mismatched commit receipts; preserve legitimate signed restores and the existing SQLite v3 schema. Add adversarial regressions; no live CAD/BIM authorization is implied.

    • Make read-only revision-impact review conservative for wall and level changes: follow hosted-opening and same-level room references across both versions, and flag door/window/room schedules. Add adversarial detail-only fixtures; external drawings and room-wall topology remain unverified.

    0.9.0 — 2026-10-26

    • Add13 explicit ARCHIMESH visual recipes with pinned external-source consent, disposable Blender5.2.3 generation, native/GLB geometry/UV/normal/PBR readback, bounded workload and corruption acceptance. Retain Gridline's canonical wall/opening oracle; no user-profile add-on installation or existing-host edits.
    • Add Ed25519 signed canonical source revisions and typed component/level/wall/opening/room proposals, source/host constraints, indexed drawing/schedule impacts, disjoint revalidation, stale conflicts, approved restore and complete stored transition-proof verification. Revit/AutoCAD live transaction APIs remain unsupported.
    • Add an opt-in Poly Haven catalog/plan/cache and actual approved three-channel1K JPG packed PBR/provenance readback. Preserve earlier synthetic tests separately and block interrupted/corrupted downloads.
    • Add source-bound IFC4 export and pinned public readback with actual schema/EXPRESS, project/site/building/storey/room, source ID/material/quantity, opening/host/filling and raw/evaluated geometry checks. Verify signed current state before publication; preserve stable GUIDs across a controlled before/after drawing/native/IFC revision. No certified MVD, client IDS, regulatory approval or IFC PBR texture claim.
    • Mark first-party Blender API worker/acceptance harness GPL-2.0-or-later, ship source/full license text and mixed-license metadata; preserve existing MIT grants. External ARCHIMESH source/images and optional IFC libraries are not bundled.
    • Include source-only doctor evidence separately from later qualified component evidence. Full roadmap issues#13/#15/#45 retain their unimplemented live-host/professional/general-client criteria.

    Included — 0.8.0 candidate review corrections (2026-10-25)

    • Correct B14 author-overview evidence pointers without implying publisher TOC or ISBN verification.
    • Serialize source-triage JSON receipts with ASCII-safe escapes so restricted terminal encodings cannot turn valid requests into false invalid-input results; preserve original Unicode on JSON decoding and Claude skill parity.
    • Read source-registry fixtures explicitly as UTF-8; add adverse ASCII-terminal and citation-provenance regressions. No new jurisdictional rules or release qualification are implied.

    0.8.1 — 2026-10-25

    • Reject active native standard-scale overrides that contradict the canonical paper-space 1:1 setting.
    • Correct native paper-space plotting to literal 1:1 millimetres and reject incorrect plot scales in readback.
    • Validate supplied receiving-room references for explicit legacy swings without flipping reviewed exceptions.
    • Honor nonplot layers in PDF output so room boundaries do not draw lines across door openings; keep DXF room geometry.
    • Fix rotated single-hinged doors producing a 270-degree arc instead of a quarter turn.
    • Add opt-in receiving-room door intent, sampled room-boundary diagnostics, coordinated schedule/readback and conceptual 3D metadata; preserve explicit legacy swings.
    • Record bounded post-release audit evidence and remaining native/release gates.

    0.8.0 — 2026-10-25

    • Add immutable-candidate final qualification receipts with live CI, provenance verification and owner-bound approval; require distinct labelled evidence for every gate.

    • Complete isolated Gemini 0.65.0 validation/update/consent/rollback and correct full-command validator probing. Preserve source #42 provenance/ASCII fixes and all merged research/update work.

    • Pin CI action revisions and prepare a manual exact-main publisher-attestation workflow with hostile-source guard tests; no automatic publication.

    • Record static pip padding/header and relocatable-launcher findings, preserve unresolved installation provenance, and scope licensing gates to shipped artifacts.

    • Probe installed Gemini CLI validator support; report NOT_TESTED instead of assuming an undocumented command. Record actual isolated Claude/Codex lifecycle acceptance and dependency evidence separately from roadmap capabilities.

    • Integrate book evidence, provider-specific update discovery, jurisdiction/source triage and reproducible artifacts from PRs #37–#40. Synchronize seven version records.

    • Add deterministic SPDX 2.3 tracked-file SBOM with hashes and explicit dependency/license review gaps. Keep build-time candidate approval disabled; final stable approval is recorded separately, and roadmap issue completion is not implied.

Included — book evidence and original review references

    • Record all 15 ArchEyes titles with edition/ISBN/access status, claim counterexamples and explicit gaps; correct the Ching edition gap and conflicting Materials for Design ISBN.
    • Add 15 original, nonnormative on-demand practice references to existing skills, synchronized to Claude. No paid text, construction dimensions or regulatory predicates extracted.

    Included — opt-in release discovery

    • Add a read-only, network-off-by-default stable release checker with strict SemVer and repository/redirect/size validation. No artifact download or install.
    • Add distribution metadata to provider version-drift checks and document real provider-specific update paths and unqualified release gates.

Included — jurisdiction and source-edition triage

    • Add a versioned, citation-only 12-record authority/source registry and an offline selector within the portable site-regulation-research skill.
    • Reject missing, stale, draft and mismatched source evidence without activating rules; keep Cyprus adoption and professional review gaps explicit. Include adversarial and standalone-skill tests; synchronize Claude.

Included — reproducible unqualified candidate bundles

    • Build source and flattened Claude ZIPs from an exact Git commit, with deterministic metadata, SHA256SUMS, file inventory and an explicitly unqualified release manifest.
    • Verify candidate bytes against the pinned local Git source; reject archive path/mode hazards, provider drift and Git export transformations. Add disposable installer A/B/tamper/rollback tests and CI artifact retention without release publication.

Included — measured villa topology repair (2026-10-24)

    • Scope opening voids to their host level; validate full cutaway inventories after native view-layer evaluation and reject modifiers, shape keys and hidden/excluded geometry. Add real-host corruption regressions.

    • Export continuous orthogonal wall union boundaries with declared aperture subtraction, source ID mappings, bounded cell budgets and explicit rejection of mixed oblique joins. Preserve coordinate precision before rotated joins.

    • Independently validate closed face/vertex topology, occupied volume, normals, roles and raw GLB triangles before host import. Add native and portable adversarial regression fixtures.

    • Repair the reproduced villa parapet and balcony guard intersections on a new copy, trim the buried parapet bases to the roof slab top, and publish measured before/after native evidence. The source villa is preserved; PR33 integrates the already-merged feature-branch fixes into main.

Included — native Blender readback hardening

    • Verify world mesh corners, native units, GLB identity/host properties and material assignments; prevent opening metadata from overwriting reserved identity fields.
    • Bound no-follow source reads, pin exclusive publication writes and propagate worker errors with autoexecution disabled.
    • Add deterministic security/corruption tests and a real-host adverse acceptance script.

    Included — Blender native-scene proof (2026-10-24)

    • Add opt-in local Blender headless scene/export bridge for supported building-spec walls, doors and windows, with explicit millimetre-to-metre conversion, new-output-only policy, independent .blend/.glb native readback, input/artifact hashes and known coverage limitations.
    • Document that image-reference reconstruction, IFC/BIM semantics, complex detailing and AutoCAD native acceptance are still separate gates; downloadable AutoCAD installer alone is not a verified host.

Included — recorded skill activation evaluation (2026-10-24)

    • Add an offline scorer for real Codex, Claude Code and Gemini CLI activation observations, with per-skill recall, negative-control rates, SHA-256 provenance, baseline comparison and optional per-case regression gates.
    • Add 19 deterministic tests; CI discovers them automatically. This validates scoring logic, not live model activation accuracy.

Included — AutoCAD Mac read inspection

    • Add a manual, opt-in AutoLISP inspector, bounded disposable-copy preparation, bundle doctor and evidence receipts; no automatic host writes or security preference changes.
    • Fix the native-AUDIT-reproduced overall paper-space viewport layer defect; fresh A-101/A-102 copies pass native no-repair AUDIT. Native edit/plot/DWG roundtrip remains unverified.

Included — trustworthy local drawing verification

    • Preserve failure receipts on CSV parser errors and fail incomplete builds when any required PDF is not generated.

    • Require explicit mm units, finite typed geometry, valid level elevation/height and vertically hosted openings; document building-spec.v1 while accepting legacy version omission.

    • Independently measure supported DXF wall/opening/room primitives and multiplicity, with optional portable element associations. Detect seeded deletion, movement, resize and duplication even when labels and schedules remain unchanged.

    • Require PDF page/vector/scale checks and register-date agreement. Add pinned pypdf to the CAD CI job and reject accidental missing CAD dependencies there.

    • Retain byte-bound verification receipts, validator/dependency versions, source revision and explicit unsupported coverage. Preserve existing CLI/report keys and synchronized portable provider copies.

    • Native AutoCAD, semantic 3D, complete image/detail reconstruction, atomic output publication and professional acceptance remain separate pending gates.

    Included — source-detail intake gates

    • Add versioned ProjectBrief/SourceDetailLedger validation, provenance-bound confirmations, prioritized missing-geometry questions and explicit concept/exact/BIM gates.
    • Add an incomplete villa fixture and adverse tests without changing the existing 2D CLI or authorizing model writes.

Included — community progress documentation (2026-10-23)

    • Documented implemented skills, DXF/PDF/schedule generation, read-only revision-impact checks and Gridline's local MCP review tool with direct PR evidence.
    • Published an issue-by-issue community progress ledger. Issues #10–#16 stay open because their complete acceptance criteria have not been met.
    • Clarified that library-level checks do not prove complete geometric correctness, native AutoCAD compatibility, IFC/IDS validation, or autonomous BIM editing. This entry describes documentation updates, not shipped verifier repairs.

0.7.0 — Gridline rebrand and installer migration

    • Rename the public project, provider plugin identities, documentation and install instructions to Gridline.
    • Add safe recognition of legacy per-path ownership ledgers for existing global installer users.
    • Document native plugin ID migration, Git remote updates and preserved backup history.

    0.6.0 - 2026-10-22

    • Added a coordinated CAD pipeline to architectural-drawing-generation (scripts/aec_cad.py). One building spec produces, per sheet, a DXF (model-space plan plus a paper-space sheet with a frame using ISO 5457 margins, a title block within ISO 7200's 180 mm width, status stamp, scale bar, north arrow and a locked viewport at scale) and a vector PDF, plus room/door/window schedules and a sheet register.
    • Added aec_cad.py check, which reads the outputs back and fails on off-standard layers, colour/lineweight overrides, text below 2.5 mm plotted, empty title fields, missing stamps or viewports, and certain drawing tags, room-area annotations, schedule fields or register entries that disagree with the building specification. Independent full geometry comparison was not implemented in v0.6.0.
    • Added standards profiles (references/standards/iso13567.json, ncs.json) and office profiles that extend them.
    • The drawing skill now applies drafting defaults without being asked (line hierarchy, text sizes, tags, dimension chains, grids, sheets, status stamps) and requires a passing check before presenting a drawing.
    • Optional dependency: ezdxf (and matplotlib for PDF). Without them the pipeline exits with an install message and aec_draw.py remains available.

    0.5.1 - 2026-10-21

    • Fixed: the conceptual drawing engine, its schema and example now ship inside skills/architectural-drawing-generation/ (scripts/, references/). Before, the Claude plugin, npx skills and global-installer paths installed the skill without the script it calls. Root scripts/aec_draw.py, schemas/ and examples/concept-plan.drawing.json moved there.
    • Fixed: provider sync and repository checks compare whole skill folders, not only SKILL.md.
    • Installers record what they install, refuse to replace same-named skills or agents they did not install unless --force/-Force is given, check every host before changing any, and move previous versions to a timestamped backup instead of copy-then-delete. If a copy or move fails, that item's previous version is put back and the staged copy removed, so an interrupted upgrade never leaves a skill missing; the ledger records each item as it is replaced. Backup folders include the process ID, so runs in the same second never share one. Updating an install made before 0.5.1 needs --force once.
    • Tests run the drawing engine from every installed location (including a real npx skills add --copy check done for this release) and cover conflict refusal, forced replacement, restore from backup, updates, failures injected while copying or placing an item, and same-second runs.
    • docs/RESEARCH.md now links its sources; drawing documentation states the six supported primitives.

    0.5.0 - 2026-10-21

    • Expanded the canonical architecture/AEC skill suite from 11 to 30 focused skills covering the full project lifecycle.
    • Added site feasibility, precedent research, concept/schematic design, interiors, drawing generation, technical documentation, life safety/accessibility, structural/MEP/civil coordination, envelope/performance, sustainability, materials/specifications, cost/VE, construction administration, handover/FM, visualization, openBIM/IFC and AutoCAD/DWG workflows.
    • Added six specialist subagents for drawing production, civil/site, openBIM, building performance, technical documentation and construction administration.
    • Added a dependency-free JSON-to-SVG/DXF conceptual drawing engine, schema, example and unit tests.
    • Rebuilt the README around beginner-first one-click agent installation, universal Agent Skills installation, native provider paths, lifecycle coverage, tool routing and explicit professional boundaries.
    • Added AEC lifecycle, research, tool-integration and drawing-output documentation plus reusable project/drawing/site/RFI/handover templates.
    • Expanded activation coverage to every stable skill and strengthened repository/CI checks for drawing assets and unit tests.

    0.3.0 - 2026-10-11

    • Added the provider-neutral rhino-grasshopper-workflow skill for Rhino 3D, Grasshopper, RhinoCommon, and Rhino Python work with explicit data-tree, unit/tolerance, bake/export, verification, and rollback guidance.
    • Routed Rhino/Grasshopper tasks from architecture-orchestrator and added activation regression cases, keeping Revit work under revit-workflow and general IFC/DWG/DXF/SVG work under cad-bim-automation.
    • Marked the Rhino / Grasshopper roadmap milestone complete.

    0.2.0 - 2026-10-09

    • Added the provider-neutral revit-workflow skill for Revit, pyRevit, Dynamo, and Revit API tasks with explicit dry-run, transaction, worksharing, verification, and rollback guidance.
    • Added Revit-specific routing plus activation regression cases while preserving generic IFC/DWG/DXF/SVG work under cad-bim-automation.
    • Made global installers discover canonical skills and agents dynamically so future additions do not require hard-coded installer lists.
    • Made Linux and Windows CI installer smoke tests derive expected skill/agent counts dynamically.
    • Added scripts/validate-native.sh with safe Claude strict validation, isolated Codex marketplace/plugin installation, and Gemini extension validation when each CLI is available.
    • Documented the maintainer native-validation path and marked the first Revit workflow milestone complete.

    0.1.1 - 2026-10-01

    • Modernized the portable OpenAI plugin manifest to the current Agent Plugins layout and metadata.
    • Added a native repo marketplace for verified two-command Codex plugin installation.
    • Made Claude plugin components explicit and added strict manifest-validation compatibility.
    • Added bounded turn/time budgets to Claude and Gemini specialist subagents.
    • Added beginner-safe auto runtime detection to global installers while preserving explicit/all targets.
    • Added canonical skill registry, provider-neutral activation eval cases, eval documentation, and stronger CI contract checks.
    • Added Linux and Windows installer smoke-test jobs to CI.
    • Updated GitHub Actions to the current Node 24 generations (checkout@v7, setup-python@v7).
    • Added update instructions for clone installs, Claude plugins, and Gemini extensions.
    • Corrected Codex documentation to avoid unnecessary global AGENTS.md routing context.

    Contributing

Contributions are welcome from architects, students, BIM specialists, engineers, visualization artists, and agent-tool developers.

    Principles

    1. Keep domain workflows provider-neutral where possible.
    2. Add a new skill only when it has a distinct trigger, workflow, and output.
    3. Put enduring domain logic in skills/; keep provider adapters thin.
    4. Cite authoritative sources in regulation-specific reference packs.
    5. Never encode unverified jurisdictional requirements as universal rules.
    6. Avoid prompts that demand hidden chain-of-thought.
    7. Prefer deterministic scripts for arithmetic, validation, and repetitive transformations.
    8. Include approval/stop boundaries for destructive operations.

    Before a PR

    python3 scripts/sync-provider-skills.py --check
    python3 tests/check_repo.py
    python3 -m unittest discover -s tests -v
    bash scripts/validate-native.sh

    Gridline

This extension provides architecture/AEC specialist skills and optional subagents.

Use the smallest relevant specialist capability. Use architecture-orchestrator for ambiguous or multi-discipline work. Keep verified facts, project assumptions, design options, and unresolved questions distinct.

Never fabricate site facts, dimensions, regulations, engineering conclusions, costs, or consultant information. Regulated and construction-critical conclusions require competent human review.

Preserve source drawings/models and prefer reversible outputs or dry runs before bulk modifications.

  • gridline-aec-agent-team/INSTALL_PROMPT.mdmarkdown · 2.9 KB

    One-click agent install prompt

Paste the prompt below into Codex, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Cursor, OpenCode, Copilot, or another filesystem-capable coding agent.

Copying this prompt does not itself install anything. The agent must have permission to inspect the official repository and change user-scoped skill/plugin files.

Install Gridline for my current user.
    Official source: https://github.com/MakeItEzzz555/Gridline

    Goal:
Make the repository's architecture/AEC Agent Skills available to the AI-agent runtimes already installed on this machine, then verify the installation.

    Do this:
    1. Inspect the official repository README, INSTALL_PROMPT.md, skills/manifest.json, provider docs, and installer scripts first. Do not use unknown mirrors or third-party repackaging.
    2. Detect the agent host(s) actually installed on this machine and their supported user/global Agent Skills locations.
    3. Show me the detected hosts and the exact installation method before making changes.
    4. Prefer the standard Agent Skills installer when supported:
       npx skills@latest add MakeItEzzz555/Gridline --all -g
If the host is not supported by that installer, use this repository's documented native Codex/Claude/Gemini installation or its reversible global installer.
    5. Preserve existing skills and configuration. Back up conflicts before replacement. Do not use sudo/root, delete unrelated skills, enable telemetry beyond a tool's existing defaults, read credentials, modify my architecture projects, or install third-party MCP servers/plugins.
    6. Install only Gridline and its first-party provider adapters. Do not automatically install Revit/Rhino/AutoCAD/Archicad/Vectorworks/SketchUp/Blender/Bonsai MCP integrations; those require separate review and permission.
    7. Verify the installed skill count against skills/manifest.json. For provider-native packages, use the host's documented list/validate command when available.
    8. Report PASS/FAIL per detected host, the installed paths, backup paths, skill count, and how to uninstall/update.
    9. Tell me to start a fresh session or reload skills/plugins if the host requires it.

Stop rather than guessing if a host, command, path, or permission model is unclear.
Do not claim successful installation until the filesystem/provider confirms it.

Gridline gives capable AI coding/agent tools a structured way to help with the full building-project lifecycle: programming and feasibility, site analysis, concept design, plans/sections/elevations, BIM/CAD workflows, structural/MEP/civil coordination, technical documentation, performance, quantities/cost, construction administration, handover and post-occupancy.

It is not one giant “act like an architect” prompt. Each specialist is discovered only when relevant, keeping the always-loaded context small and the workflow auditable.

What Gridline actually ships — October 2026

Gridline combines 30 portable AEC skills and 12 specialist agents with runnable drafting and review utilities. The descriptions below distinguish implemented software, partial review coverage, and planned capabilities. Architectural validation is not professional certification.

    CapabilityCurrent evidence and scope
Agent installation and skill routingCross-provider packages, portable skill directories, a one-copy installation prompt, provider activation fixtures, and reversible/ownership-aware global installers (v0.5.0–0.5.1)
Conceptual drawingsDependency-free JSON-to-SVG/DXF engine for six supported primitives; output remains conceptual, not for construction (drawing details)
Specification-derived CAD plan sheetsStructured building JSON → standard-layered DXF plans, paper-space layouts/title blocks, required vector PDFs, room/door/window schedules and a sheet register, with ISO 13567 / NCS profiles and office overrides (PR #6)
Local drawing checksaec_cad.py check independently measures supported wall/opening/room primitives and PDF straight-vector plot mapping, plus selected drafting/title/tag/schedule invariants. Receipts bind input/output/validator hashes and coverage. This is supported local 2D verification, not complete geometry, PDF visual fidelity or native AutoCAD acceptance. (verification scope)
Read-only revision-impact reviewCompare two building specs to list changed openings, walls, rooms, levels, grids and document settings, affected indexed sheets and impacted schedules. Coverage is partial: declared host/level/receiving-room links, missing model references and grid/document-setting changes are tracked; report output is atomic and rejects input aliases, but room-wall adjacency and unrelated CAD/PDF drawings are not independently inspected (PR #9, issue #10)
Local read-only MCP serverOptional Gridline-owned stdio MCP review server exposes revision comparison and capability discovery. It does not connect to or edit AutoCAD, Revit or other native applications (PR #9)
Professional host integrationRevit, AutoCAD, Rhino/Grasshopper, IFC/Bonsai and related workflow guidance exists in skills. Native MCP tool connections, host acceptance testing and controlled model writes are not yet shipped (issue #12)
Local Blender 3D proof (experimental)scripts/blender_native.py can generate a new native .blend + .glb from supported building-spec walls/levels/doors/windows and independently reopen/measure outputs in a locally installed Blender version. Does not create detailed roofs/interiors or reconstruct architecture from a reference photo; this is a CLI bridge, not a native Blender MCP (scope and usage)
Optional ARCHIMESH components (0.9.0)Typed component catalog, explicit pinned-source execution, disposable Blender 5.2.3 native/GLB readback, signed local proposals and opt-in CC0 texture cache. The local ledger now also rejects a head rewind to an older signed content hash without an approved transition. Source-bound IFC4 and real texture readback are tested; professional/client and live-host gates remain explicit (usage, evidence and limits).

Verified limitations and next engineering gates

The independent Gridline/Codex technical audit reproduced a critical defect in the old checker: deleting one opening LINE while preserving tags/schedules still returned PASS. PR #21 adds independent readback and adversarial tests for supported primitives. Full geometric completeness, raster visibility and native acceptance remain separate gates; the checker is not construction-ready certification.

    Other gates remain open: cross-sheet comparison and 40-sheet reference fixtures (#10), IFC schema/IDS validation (#11), real CAD/BIM adapters (#12), editable 2D→3D/BIM (#13), scanned/hand-marked plans (#14), human-approved revision state/transactions (#15), and native AutoCAD open/AUDIT/edit/plot/round-trip evidence (#16).

These are implementation issues, not completed product claims. The community progress ledger records delivered pieces, proof, remaining acceptance criteria, and why issues stay open. Contributions, professional CAD sample sets and critical reviews are welcome.

Install with your AI agent — copy once

No terminal knowledge required. Open Codex, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Cursor, OpenCode, Copilot, or another filesystem-capable agent and paste this:

Install Gridline for my current user.
    Official source: https://github.com/MakeItEzzz555/Gridline

First inspect the official README, INSTALL_PROMPT.md, skills/manifest.json and installer/provider docs. Detect which compatible agent runtimes are already installed.

Prefer the standard Agent Skills installer when supported:
    npx skills@latest add MakeItEzzz555/Gridline --all -g

Otherwise use this repository's documented native Codex/Claude/Gemini method or reversible global installer. Preserve existing skills/configuration and back up conflicts. Do not use sudo/root, modify my architecture projects, read credentials, delete unrelated skills, or install third-party MCP servers/plugins.

Install only Gridline for the detected hosts. Verify the installed stable-skill count against skills/manifest.json and use documented provider list/validate commands when available. Report PASS/FAIL per host, installed and backup paths, update/uninstall instructions, and whether I need to reload or start a fresh session.

Stop rather than guessing if a command, path, host or permission model is unclear. Do not claim installation succeeded until the filesystem/provider confirms it.

Revision impact and cross-sheet QA (read-only pilot)

When an opening, wall, room, level, grid, project unit, drafting standard or drawing revision changes, Gridline identifies affected indexed sheets and schedules for review. It follows declared wall→opening and level→wall/room dependencies in both revisions, including detail-only references. Grid edits and document-setting changes conservatively flag all indexed sheets, since no per-sheet grid/style dependency index exists; unit changes also flag dimensional schedules. The additive changed_document_fields report field identifies unit, standard, schema-version and other top-level document-field changes (including site/datum/material extension fields). Unknown field dependencies trigger conservative sheet review, not a claim of complete schedule coverage. This is read-only source-spec impact analysis; it does not inspect unrelated PDFs, prove complete room-wall adjacency, or certify 40 unknown external drawings.

    python3 skills/architectural-drawing-generation/scripts/revision_impact.py before.building.json after.building.json --out impact.json

There is also an opt-in local, read-only Gridline MCP server exposing this comparison to MCP-compatible agents (requires the official Python MCP SDK v2 and an explicitly permitted project directory). It is not a connection to AutoCAD or Revit. On POSIX systems with descriptor-relative no-follow opens, project JSON reads pin the authorized directory and opened regular-file descriptors, rejecting symlink swaps and reads beyond 5 MB. On Windows and platforms without those primitives, the compatibility fallback retains path validation and bounded reads but cannot guarantee protection against concurrent pathname replacement; use a trusted, non-writable project directory there.

Next phases: IFC/IDS validation, official Autodesk MCP, Rhino, Blender, Archicad, editable 3D and scanned drawing research.

    Coordinated CAD drawings

When a trusted native CAD/BIM host is available, the skills provide guidance for working with the native editable model; Gridline does not currently provide an installed native-host connection. Without one, the drawing skill can build a specification-derived plan-sheet set: standard-layered DXF files (ISO 13567, US NCS or an office profile), required vector PDFs, room/door/window schedules and a sheet register. The current checker inspects a defined subset of properties and schedule consistency; it does not certify geometry completeness, PDF fidelity, cross-sheet views or AutoCAD editability. Native AutoCAD open/AUDIT/edit/plot/round-trip testing is an outstanding acceptance gate (#16).

    pip install ezdxf==1.4.5 matplotlib==3.11.2 pypdf==6.21.2
    D=skills/architectural-drawing-generation
    python3 $D/scripts/aec_cad.py build $D/references/example-house.building.json /tmp/example-house
    python3 $D/scripts/aec_cad.py check $D/references/example-house.building.json /tmp/example-house

Example sheet A-101: ground floor plan at 1:100 on A3, built and checked from the example spec

It draws plans today (walls, doors, windows, rooms, grids, dimensions, sheets); sections, elevations and details are next. For quick diagrams there is also a small dependency-free engine that turns an explicit JSON spec into SVG or DXF. It draws six primitives (lines, rectangles, circles, polylines, text and dimensions), enough for conceptual plan and section diagrams. It does not model walls, doors, hatching, title blocks or scale bars:

    python3 skills/architectural-drawing-generation/scripts/aec_draw.py skills/architectural-drawing-generation/references/concept-plan.drawing.json /tmp/plan.svg
    python3 skills/architectural-drawing-generation/scripts/aec_draw.py skills/architectural-drawing-generation/references/concept-plan.drawing.json /tmp/plan.dxf

The JSON format is documented by aec-drawing.schema.json. The fallback never invents dimensions and stamps conceptual output CONCEPT / NOT FOR CONSTRUCTION by default. Drawing-output details.

A bounded AutoCAD Mac inspection adapter prepares a disposable DXF copy and a manually activated read-only AutoLISP inspector. Installed status, operator-captured metadata and native AUDIT/plot/DWG roundtrip remain distinct evidence gates; this is not an MCP connection.

CAD / BIM / AEC tools

The pack knows how to route work for Revit, pyRevit, Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, IFC/IfcOpenShell/Bonsai, DXF/SVG, Blender and FreeCAD. Public MCP projects also exist for Revit, Rhino/Grasshopper, AutoCAD, Archicad, Vectorworks and SketchUp.

Those integrations are optional and not installed automatically. A model-writing bridge can change professional project files; review its source, permissions, network surface and write commands before connecting it.

    Tool-integration policy.

A dependency-free source-detail intake gate records unknown dimensions and approvals before exact 3D work. The incomplete villa example blocks plot boundary, floor-to-floor heights and roof; concept remains provisional. This is an intake check, not model completeness or native-write permission.

    A real project context

Copy templates/ARCHITECTURE_PROJECT.md into a project root and fill only what is known. Additional reusable templates cover:

    • design brief and room/program inputs;
    • site analysis;
    • drawing briefs and sheet registers;
    • BIM coordination;
    • RFIs and site observations;
    • punch/defects tracking;
    • handover/closeout.

    Then ask naturally:

Develop three schematic options from this brief and site evidence, draw the preferred plan and section, reconcile its area schedule, and identify the structural/MEP/life-safety questions that must be resolved next.

The orchestrator should load only the relevant specialists.

    How the system works

The design principle is progressive disclosure: short skill names/descriptions support discovery; full workflows load on activation; scripts, templates and reference docs are opened only when needed.

    Professional and safety boundary

Architecture, structural engineering, civil engineering, MEP, fire engineering, accessibility, cost consultancy and construction administration overlap—but they are not interchangeable professional responsibilities.

This project can research, calculate, draft, automate, coordinate, generate conceptual drawings and review evidence. It does not by itself provide licensure, statutory approval, signed/stamped engineering, permit approval or issue-for-construction certification.

The core rules are deliberately conservative:

    • never invent survey coordinates, dimensions, regulations, loads/capacities, product certifications or current costs;
    • cite jurisdiction, authority, source and edition for regulatory claims;
    • preserve source models and issued files;
    • use read-only inventory and dry runs before bulk writes;
    • make units, origin/datum, IDs and revisions explicit;
    • distinguish observed fact from assumption and design option;
    • require competent human review for regulated and construction-critical conclusions.

    Research-driven, not prompt folklore

The capability map is grounded in professional lifecycle frameworks, buildingSMART/openBIM standards, current vendor documentation and public AEC agent/tool projects. The research specifically informed:

    • lifecycle coverage from briefing through post-occupancy;
    • version-aware Revit/Rhino/AutoCAD workflows;
    • IFC + BCF + IDS information coordination;
    • Civil 3D/site workflow concepts;
    • guarded live-tool/MCP write patterns;
    • progressive skill disclosure instead of a huge permanent prompt.

    Research basis.

    Maintainer validation

    python3 scripts/sync-provider-skills.py --check
    python3 tests/check_repo.py
    python3 -m unittest discover -s tests -v
    bash scripts/validate-native.sh

The repository tests structural skill coverage and provider synchronization. Native provider validation runs only for installed CLIs. Behavioral model activation still requires provider/model evals; installation alone is not proof that every model will select every skill perfectly.

    Project status

This is an open-source professional-assistance toolkit, not a substitute for appointed professionals. Coverage is broad, but every real office has its own BIM standards, detail libraries, codes, contracts and QA procedures. Those should be layered into project/organization-specific skills rather than hard-coded as universal rules here.

TalentDelta provenance record (added at packaging)

    • Packaged for: TalentDelta catalogue (draft; gated by review)
    • Upstream: MakeItEzzz555/Gridline
    • Pinned commit: 623f57b4a63ee449c27d975524f5e7a53e97d9f5 (2026-11-01)
    • Licence: MIT AND GPL-2.0-or-later - the repository LICENSE (MIT) ships unchanged; the GPL-2.0-or-later component (skills/architectural-drawing-generation/scripts/components_worker.py, tests/components_native_acceptance.py) ships with its complete source, the full GPL text (references/GPL-2.0.txt) and the upstream BLENDER-LICENSING.md boundary note, so both licences travel with the archive.
    • Upstream author credit: Nicolas Savvides (MakeItEzzz555)
    • Runtime: Claude Code, Codex CLI or Gemini CLI (portable Agent Skills folders plus plugin manifests); Python 3 for the drawing, DXF and QA utilities. Optional Blender 5.x for the GPL worker.
    • Changes made at packaging: this section was appended to README.md. Upstream paths deliberately NOT shipped in this archive: .github/workflows (upstream GitHub Actions workflows (repository CI, not needed to run the agent)). Edited at packaging, so NOT byte-identical to the pinned commit: README.md (the provenance, licence and safety record appended above). Every other file is byte-identical to the pinned commit.
    • Safety read of the packaged archive (packaging time, 2026-11-01): scanned every text file: no API keys, tokens, private keys or .env files; the only credential-shaped strings are test fixtures and documentation placeholders. One absolute path exists — the author's own macOS Blender profile in docs/evidence/archimesh-doctor/doctor-default.json — a personal machine path, no secret. The Python utilities make no outbound calls at install time and require no API keys; the Blender worker needs Blender 5.x and is optional.

    Packaging notes (TalentDelta)

    • Mixed licence: MIT repository plus a GPL-2.0-or-later Blender worker. The GPL files ship with source and licence text; the catalogue licence line must not read MIT alone.
    • The 12 agents ship twice, unchanged: agents/ carries kind/max_turns/timeout_mins frontmatter, providers/claude/agents/ the same prompt body with maxTurns, so each harness gets native metadata. The 30 skills duplicate byte-for-byte under providers/claude/skills/.
    • Jurisdiction-agnostic: no UK Building Regulations, Approved Documents, Part L/M or PAS 2035 text. Suitable for concept and coordination work, not statutory submission.
    • Upstream release state is NOT_VERIFIED (v0.9.0); pypdf/ezdxf-based utilities are tested by the shipped test suite.

    Roadmap

The project evolves incrementally around usefulness, portability, safety, and measured context cost.

    Direction

First users: small practices and independent architects, Cyprus and the wider EU first, with standards that stay configurable for anywhere. The principle: one source of truth, deliverables derived from it, a checker before anything is presented, and a named architect who signs.

    Community-driven priority update (2026-10-22)

See next AEC phases and official integration research.

Community feedback follow-up (2026-10-22): P0 authoritative model state and agent transaction safety is a blocking prerequisite for all future agent-authorized native CAD/BIM writes. The local signed-component ledger now verifies the latest approved head transition even when a restore reuses a previous content hash; full host transaction/readback, external anti-rollback, generalized project state and professional approvals remain open. P1 actual AutoCAD DXF/WG round-trip acceptance is a separate deliverable from ezdxf syntactic validation: run native AUDIT, editing, plots, scale/XREF checks and DWG readback on a licensed host. These are not shipped capabilities. Supporting documentation: state and AutoCAD research.

Revision-impact report safety (2026-11-01): the optional CLI report output now refuses input-path/hardlink aliases and symlink destinations, writes through a temporary file with atomic replacement, and preserves existing reports on ordinary write/rename failures. Project and element changed-field receipts distinguish absent keys from explicit null. Concurrent adversarial path replacement is not covered; full drawing-set dependency indexing remains open.

MCP read safety (2026-10-29): descriptor-relative no-follow project JSON snapshots now prevent ancestor/leaf symlink swap escapes and enforce post-stat read bounds on supported POSIX hosts. The Windows/pathname compatibility fallback is not race-proof; secure Windows handle-based confinement remains open. Neither path is an immutable multi-file transaction snapshot.

    1. Cross-sheet dependency/impact review (Phase 1): in progress. Read-only spec revision impact follows indexed host/level relationships, catches grid and document-setting changes, conservatively flags all indexed sheets for those changes and dependent schedules where applicable, and explicitly labels partial coverage; opt-in Gridline local read-only MCP server. Unknown top-level document fields also conservatively flag all indexed sheets, preventing silent false negatives as the building spec evolves; their schedule dependencies still require manual review. Missing model host/level/receiving-room references now flag review even for identical inputs; room changes follow declared receiving-room door dependencies, but geometric room-wall adjacency remains unindexed. Next: actual drawing/PDF cross-reference extraction, room-wall adjacency modeling, and real 40-sheet case fixtures.
    2. IFC 4.3 / IFC4 / IFC2X3 schema and IDS gate (Phase 2): local IfcOpenShell, IfcTester and buildingSMART-style validation; fail-closed release controls, geometry and project standards tested separately.
    3. Native AEC MCP integrations (Phase 3): official Autodesk Revit 2027.2 local MCP (read first); Autodesk Assistant's AutoCAD/Civil3D preview (respect actual host/client restrictions); Rhino.Compute, Graphisoft JSON API, Blender bpy and FreeCAD local APIs through bounded adapters.
    4. Editable 2D → coherent 3D → IFC (Phase 4): source-of-truth dimensions, topology checks, native geometry, GUID tracking, roundtrip verification; render/mesh preview is not certified BIM.
    5. Scanned annotated floor plans (Phase 5): calibration, confidence, annotation/OCR separation, human review, adversarial tests. No one-shot scan-to-BIM claims.

Other P1 agent routing/reviewer evaluations and standards-profile improvements remain planned; they are not replaced by visual demos.

    Next, in order

Evaluation infrastructure completed (unreleased): offline scoring of recorded provider activations, provenance and baseline regression gates. Real provider-native observation capture and repeated-run behavioral benchmarks remain open.

    1. Agent reliability (P1). Read-only reviewer agents; baseline activation and negative-trigger evals on the existing cases; more negative cases.
    2. Audit existing drawings. Run the standards checks (layers, ByLayer properties, text heights, title blocks, sheet register) on a practice's own DXF files, not only generated ones. Most offices already have drawings; checking them is immediate value.
    3. Sections and elevations from the same spec. Levels, wall heights, sills and opening heights are already in the spec; derive elevations and a simple section, plus door/window type legends and a finishes schedule.
    4. Live AutoCAD loop. A recipe for autocad-mcp (AutoCAD LT 2024+ on Windows): open the generated DXF, read back entity counts per layer, plot to PDF, and compare against check.
    5. IFC from the same spec. Walls, openings and spaces through IfcOpenShell for Revit/Archicad import and IDS checks.
    6. Revisions and issue. Revision table and clouds, register history per revision, transmittals.
    7. Cyprus/EU reference pack. Planning and building-control sources as data with authority, edition, effective date and limitations; no rule is applied without its citation.
    8. Quality benchmark. The same tasks with and without the pack across providers: drawing validity, coordination errors, unsupported assumptions, human corrections.

    Done

    Security

Architecture files can contain confidential client, site, access, and building information.

    Agent safety model

    • Skills request only the access needed for the task.
    • Bulk CAD/BIM transforms follow inventory → dry run → sample → validate → full run → audit.
    • Never embed credentials, private client data, or proprietary model files in this repository.

    Global Adoption Prompt

Paste this into a filesystem-capable AI coding agent while it is opened in this extracted/cloned repository:

Install Gridline globally for my current user.

Read this repository's README and installer scripts first. Detect which supported runtimes are already installed on this machine: Codex, Claude Code, and Gemini CLI. Install only the matching architecture skills/agents using this repository's supported user-scoped paths or native plugin/extension mechanisms.

Preserve all existing configuration. Back up conflicts before replacing anything. Do not use sudo, install unrelated packages, change system-wide files, or modify my architecture projects.

After installation, verify that the architecture capabilities are discoverable by each installed runtime and report PASS/FAIL per provider. If a provider is not installed, skip it rather than installing the provider itself.

Optional ARCHIMESH components and source-bound IFC4

Gridline 0.9.0 builds on released 0.8.1. Component generation is optional, new-output-only and qualified on the observed macOS Blender 5.2.3 LTS host with the exact official ARCHIMESH 1.2.5 source. It never installs/enables an extension in a user profile, patches source or controls an existing window. See the historical source review for upstream provenance, operator inventory and reproduced Blender 5.2 panel defects. The doctor remains read-only inventory; exit 0 is not generation or licensing approval.

    Select a bounded recipe

From an installed architectural-drawing-generation skill directory (repository paths have the prefix skills/architectural-drawing-generation/):

    python3 scripts/archimesh_components.py catalog
    python3 scripts/archimesh_components.py validate references/example-components.json
    python3 scripts/archimesh_components.py build REQUEST.json NEW_OUT \
      --addon-source /absolute/reviewed/archimesh \
      --approve-addon-sha256 44745a86dd472e296e06cd45c511e002a1105512a73009cb0018c87611d18d87
    python3 scripts/archimesh_components.py verify NEW_OUT \
      --expected-receipt-sha256 TRUSTED_PIN_FROM_BUILD_RESULT

Use the catalog as a data picker: select a kind, obtain every required size and material value from reviewed source, then validate. Never translate prose into executable Blender Python or copy synthetic fixture dimensions into a real design. Choose a persistent globally unique project_id for a real project (a UUID is suitable); keep the human project number in building.project.number. GUID stability is scoped to that project namespace. Synthetic example IDs are not federation identities. All 13 recipes are exercised in actual native/GLB and IFC acceptance:

    KindMeaning and independent measurement scope
Door, rail window, cabinetSource frame/body anchors checked against explicit width/depth/height. Cabinet fronts and window hardware may extend outside the nominal body/frame.
ShelvesExplicit body/board sizes and shelf count; frozen evaluated surface readback. No storage-load claim.
ColumnRadius and height measured; 12-sided, open-ended display surface with size-changing subdivision disabled. No watertight structural-solid claim.
StairsWidth, total run and rise measured against count/tread/riser inputs; tread thickness explicit. No headroom, egress or code clearance claim.
RoofBounded decorative tile array/angle/scale/thickness controls; evaluated surface readback. No structural/weatherproof roof.
Books, lampBounded source controls and evaluated surfaces. No furniture schedule, photometry or electrical acceptance.
Roller, Venetian, Japanese curtainNominal source controls; fabric/slat/rail/hardware assemblies may exceed nominal opening dimensions. No clearance/fabric-performance claim.
Panel windowExplicit centimetre pane controls; assembly includes upstream frame sizes. No glazing-performance claim.

schema: gridline-components.v1, metre coordinates, project/component/source IDs, position, rotation, material ID/color/roughness/metallic and every catalog parameter are required. Counts/scales are dimensionless; _deg and _cm fields name their units. These are bounded recipes, not support for every upstream option or proof of every parameter combination. Validation rejects unknown fields and invalid ranges/types/relationships. Scenes are limited to 32 components, 100,000 triangles and 64 MiB per published artifact; excess blocks publication.

Results are editable frozen meshes with source IDs and parent assemblies, not working ARCHIMESH parametric panels or approved BIM families. One explicit material is used per component, including opaque windows. Zero-area upstream triangles are explicitly removed/counts recorded; nonzero source surfaces are retained. Rooms, auto-hole booleans, animations, external GLB resources, original-project writes and interactive panel repair are not exposed by the component generator. Blender offline mode is not an OS sandbox: executable and pinned source are trusted.

    Building and artifact bindings

Standalone requests use empty host_id. An embedded building-spec.v1 retains its millimetre schema; component coordinates remain metres. Hosted doors/windows must reference an actual opening/wall and match its dimensions, level, position and rotation. Unhosted building props require level_id. Canonical wall unions and opening occupied/void checks remain authoritative; components replace only matching closed preview slabs. ARCHIMESH never cuts a source wall. Simple room polygons, global source identities and nonoverlapping stacked level ranges are checked; complex overlapping storey models are outside this bounded adapter.

See example-house.components.json and example-two-level.components.json. A new output contains request.json, components.blend, components.glb, meshes.json, verification.json and a receipt published last. Existing paths are never overwritten. Interrupted/incomplete publication cannot be accepted as valid. Builds snapshot consumed add-on/runtime/request/texture bytes. Source or canonical-head changes during generation prevent publication.

Readback checks complete object/mesh inventory, source/host IDs, parents, root transforms, world triangles/winding/corner normals, UVs, known active PBR graphs, visibility, modifiers, constraints, animation, supported anchors and shell geometry. Position/UV tolerance is 1e-5; normal-component tolerance is 5e-5 from measured Blender import quantization. Public verification uses pinned private byte snapshots and preserves published artifacts. Retain receipt hashes separately from the output; recomputing a pin after an untrusted change is not an integrity check. Source approvals and receipt pins do not provide an OS sandbox or remote publisher identity.

    Signed canonical source revisions

component_state.py DATABASE COMMAND stores version 3 immutable revisions/proposals and append-only events in SQLite. Ed25519 owner signatures bind exact initialization and proposals, action, project and public-key fingerprint. OpenSSL 3 is required; production accepts public keys/detached signatures only. Never sign for a real owner or treat an actor label as approval. Keep the private key outside agent-controlled storage and retain the trusted public-key fingerprint separately.

    1. prepare-init REQUEST --owner OWNER --public-key PUBLIC.pem --payload-out PAYLOAD supplies exact bytes for independent owner review/signing.
    2. init REQUEST --owner OWNER --public-key PUBLIC.pem --signature SIGNATURE verifies proof and exclusively publishes a new database.
    3. propose BASE_HASH PATCH.json --actor ACTOR --rationale TEXT --evidence TEXT --payload-out PAYLOAD supplies before/after diffs, indexed sheet/schedule impact and signable approval bytes.
    4. After independent owner review/signing, approve PROPOSAL_HASH --owner OWNER --signature SIGNATURE, then commit PROPOSAL_HASH.
    5. restore REVISION --actor ACTOR --rationale TEXT --evidence TEXT creates a new proposal requiring approval. prepare-rejection PROPOSAL_HASH --payload-out PAYLOAD and reject ... --signature SIGNATURE use distinct rejection bytes. inspect reports the source and bounded audit.

A legacy list patch replaces whole components. A typed patch contains any of components, levels, walls, openings, rooms, each a list of whole-element replacements; at most 32 targets total. Additions/deletions, identity/host/type/level reassignment, missing attributes and arbitrary unit/datum changes are rejected. Coordinated opening/component edits must be one geometrically consistent proposal. Unrelated stale edits merge only after full revalidation; same-target edits conflict. Root initialization and every stored transition proof are checked before a revision is trusted. The current head must also agree with the latest committed audit event: its owner-approved proposal, previous document, conflict preconditions and resulting content are verified even when a legitimate restore reuses an earlier content hash. Repointing the head to a previously signed revision without an approved restore now fails closed, including historical-revision reads and new proposals. A fabricated commit event cannot substitute for a valid owner signature. This does not provide external anti-rollback protection against an attacker who can replace the entire trusted database with an older snapshot. Old unreleased database schemas fail closed; no silent migration occurs.

Changes flag indexed plans and explicit references, including dependent openings and schedules. Unindexed drawings, external families/types and professional constraints remain UNKNOWN. This does not claim a complete live BIM dependency graph. Database/executable storage must remain trusted; signatures do not establish human presence, professional credentials, external anti-rollback storage or an OS security boundary. build --state-db DB --owner-key-sha256 TRUSTED_PIN binds the preview to the current approved head and rechecks it under the publication lock. No Revit/AutoCAD live edit/transaction/rollback adapter is implemented by this ledger.

    Opt-in CC0 textures

cc0_assets.py supports Poly Haven textures: exactly 1K JPG diffuse, roughness and OpenGL-normal channels. No archive, model, HDRI, sprite or ambientCG backend is exposed. Pillow is required. Catalog access defaults to network-off; explicit catalog/plan network options preserve attribution/User-Agent and source metadata. See Poly Haven API and cc0_assets.py --help.

Download requests require the exact approved plan SHA256. The plan binds source, CC0 license, provider, URLs, lengths and upstream MD5s. HTTPS hosts/redirects are allowlisted; aggregate budget 8 MiB per plan and at most 4 plans per scene. JPEG format/dimensions, MD5 and local SHA256 are rechecked. Failed downloads preserve previous cache entries; corrupted content is rejected rather than silently replaced. MD5 metadata is not a publisher signature. Live service terms/asset rights remain part of source review; no legal certification is implied.

Materials supply asset_plan_sha256, explicit uv_tile_size_m: [WIDTH, HEIGHT], white base color, roughness 1 and metallic 0. Do not infer physical texture size from undocumented provider units. Builds consume --asset-cache CACHE offline and pack images into .blend/GLB. Native/imported shader links, UV mapping, image pixels and provider/license/source/hash provenance are checked. The actual approved Aerial Wood Snips three-channel download passed; it is a technical texture test, not a recommendation of wood chips as furniture finish. Synthetic fixtures stay labelled.

    Source-bound IFC4

Explicitly install optional dependencies only in a selected environment, using references/requirements-ifc.txt (IfcOpenShell 0.9.0.post1; pytest 9.1.1 is required by EXPRESS validation). Gridline never automatically installs them. Publication requires POSIX secure directory operations and the selected signed state database:

    python3 scripts/component_ifc.py NATIVE_OUT NEW_IFC_OUT \
      --state-db PROJECT.sqlite --requirements REQUIREMENTS.json \
      --expected-bundle-receipt-sha256 TRUSTED_NATIVE_RECEIPT_PIN \
      --expected-owner-key-sha256 TRUSTED_OWNER_KEY_PIN
    python3 scripts/component_ifc.py NATIVE_OUT IFC_OUT \
      --state-db PROJECT.sqlite --requirements REQUIREMENTS.json \
      --expected-bundle-receipt-sha256 TRUSTED_NATIVE_RECEIPT_PIN \
      --expected-owner-key-sha256 TRUSTED_OWNER_KEY_PIN \
      --verify --expected-ifc-receipt-sha256 TRUSTED_IFC_RECEIPT_PIN

Requirements are data: schema: gridline-ifc-requirements.v1, matching project_id, explicit required_properties chosen from SourceElementId/RequestSHA256/Kind/MaterialId, and boolean allow_unknown_materials. Unsupported requirements fail closed. The synthetic acceptance requirements are not a client's IDS or regulatory requirements.

IFC4 contains project/site/building/storeys, source room spaces, physical joined walls with stable source-segment parts, opening voids/fillings and typed components. Decorative tiles become coverings, books become proxies and lamps become fixtures; no generic display mesh is presented as certified structural BIM. Room source area and explicit-level-height prism volume are labelled accordingly; mesh surface sums are custom visual quantities, not net usable area or construction quantities. Unknown source wall materials stay UNKNOWN and fail if the requirements disallow it. No materials are attached to voids. PBR textures remain native/GLB; IFC maps identities.

Checks include schema/EXPRESS, SI units, local coordinate declaration, spatial membership/placement, complete products, source properties/material links/quantities, GUID uniqueness, opening hosts/fillings, raw indices/winding before engine repair, independent evaluated triangles and occupied/void/room geometry. Fixed IFC4 source exchange is not a certified MVD or generic client/IDS interoperability claim. Publication rechecks the signed current head under a transaction. Historical readback requires an authenticated approved revision; it does not make that revision current. model.ifc, mapping.json, verification.json, requirements.json and the final receipt bind source, runtime and consumed bytes. Native/IFC headers may contain legitimate serialization timestamps; source/geometry/GUID checks establish stability.

    Acceptance and distribution

The offline tests/components_pipeline_acceptance.py exercises signed source→three plan sheets/DXF/PDF/schedules→Blender/GLB→IFC, a coordinated 100 mm before/after door change, actual DXF/IFC widths, host-wall volume and source/relationship GUID stability, then all 13 component kinds. components_native_acceptance.py and components_ifc_acceptance.py seed real private corrupted copies after baseline PASS. They never operate on a client/live scene. See 0.9.0 qualification for final source-bound receipts, exact checked scope and outstanding publication gates.

The first-party Blender API worker/harness are GPL-2.0-or-later with corresponding source and full text. Existing MIT grants are retained; metadata is mixed-license. External ARCHIMESH source/images/ZIP and optional IFC binaries are not bundled. Read the portable licensing boundary. Professional project approval, actual client IDS/exchange acceptance, interactive upstream panels and Revit/AutoCAD live transactions remain outside this release's qualified scope; full roadmap issues #13/#15/#45 must not be falsely closed.

    Historical package A source review

This records the source-only package A checkpoint. Its blocked/not-tested statements describe that earlier checkpoint. See current integration for subsequent implementation and acceptance.

Optional ARCHIMESH: source review and read-only doctor

Issue #45, first separate package A. Based on released 0.8.1, source 0e87aa52922b164235ccf277edead851b9acc000. This adds discovery and source evidence; component adapters, installation, native/GLB acceptance and asset downloads remain blocked or not tested. Stable provider versions remain 0.8.1; this is an unreleased feature branch.

    Run the doctor

    From the repository:

    python3 scripts/archimesh_doctor.py
    python3 scripts/archimesh_doctor.py --addon-source /absolute/path/to/archimesh
    python3 scripts/archimesh_doctor.py --blender /absolute/path/to/blender

From an installed drawing skill, use python3 scripts/archimesh_doctor.py in its own directory. No third-party Python dependency is needed. The explicit source option inventories an extracted or installed directory; it does not assert that the source is installed. Default discovery checks standard versioned user profiles (legacy scripts/addons/archimesh and extensions/<repository>/archimesh) on macOS, Linux and Windows. Custom/system installs need an explicit source path. NOT_FOUND_IN_DEFAULT_PATHS is a scoped finding, not a whole-disk absence claim. Permission errors and unsafe paths return structured BLOCKED and exit 1.

The tool never imports an add-on, enables it, writes Preferences, opens a user model, or connects to an existing Blender window. With a trusted Blender executable it starts a separate factory/background process, disables automatic execution, selects offline mode and private temporary resources, and verifies startup only. Offline mode is Blender's setting, not an operating-system sandbox. The caller must trust the executable. No arbitrary Python expression/script option is exposed. Exit 0 means the inventory completed, including a missing dependency; inspect generation: BLOCKED, registration: NOT_TESTED, and geometry_acceptance: NOT_TESTED rather than interpreting it as integration success.

Source reads reject symlinks, special files, files over 1 MiB and trees over 128 entries. An exact match to all 19 pinned files, with no extra files except ignored __pycache__ directories, yields SOURCE_VERIFIED. Any missing/modified/extra file yields UNVERIFIED and version UNKNOWN. Matching source bytes neither authorizes execution nor clears licensing. The reference JSON is a factual hash/operator inventory, not upstream Python source. No GPL add-on code, ZIP, image or bytecode is shipped.

    Pinned source and compatibility

The official extension advertises 1.2.5, Community maintenance, limited support, Blender 4.2.0+, and GPL-2.0-or-later. Its manifest agrees; legacy bl_info still says Blender 3.0.0. Use the extension manifest as the advertised floor, not as proof of Blender 5 compatibility. The downloaded 323,488-byte ZIP SHA256 is 44745a86dd472e296e06cd45c511e002a1105512a73009cb0018c87611d18d87, matching the official content-addressed link. See the portable pin inventory.

The archived Blender add-ons mirror is a distinct historical source; this implementation pins the extension ZIP, not an assumed identical mirror tree. A secondary 1.2.6/GPL3 listing is not accepted as the official edition: no authoritative matching release was verified. The reported marcoo releases URL returned a challenge page, so that channel remains UNVERIFIED.

The Odhexe patcher, pinned at 35e6495802bcef6d5465bbff36e0148fac4c40ca, uses regex substitutions for generator-membership/panel tests. It recursively rewrites Python files and creates .bak files; it is not a complete tested replacement release. Static inspection does not establish callback, geometry, material, export or Blender-version compatibility. It was not executed, installed, or adopted, and modified source would fail the official pin. Its exact file hash is recorded in source.json.

    Actual Blender 5.2.3 evidence

TESTED_BLENDER_5_2_3, PARTIALLY_SUPPORTED: in a new factory/background/offline process with private temporary resource directories, the hash-verified official source imported and registered. All 14 mesh generator names were present. Default door, rail window and kitchen operators returned FINISHED, producing 6, 7 and 5 mesh objects respectively. These counts are diagnostic observations, not evaluated geometry acceptance.

Both door and rail-window panel polls returned false while their RNA generator collections were populated. This reproduces a panel gating defect in this narrow context; it does not prove every interactive viewport state. No patch was applied. Dimension callbacks, panels in a live viewport, evaluated meshes, units/transforms, normals, UVs, material fidelity, saved .blend and GLB reimport remain NOT_TESTED for ARCHIMESH. The existing Gridline geometry validators are unchanged and cannot be assumed to accept these foreign meshes.

The native research harness stayed outside the repository, explicitly GPL-labelled, and ran only the reviewed official source in a disposable process. No extension was installed/enabled in a user profile; no existing native session or .blend was controlled. The shipped doctor does not execute this research harness or claim its observations as a fresh per-install compatibility result. See native probe, default discovery, source inspection, and external receipt paths/hashes. The harness/log remain in the external research directory for reproduction; they are not portable installed-skill payloads.

    Typed capability and side-effect inventory

These are SOURCE_VERIFIED interfaces, not Gridline request schemas or supported adapters. Names below are under bpy.ops.mesh.; floats follow upstream units/context and need independently measured conversion. Object property collections are edited after creation, often triggering destructive child-mesh rebuilding. Direct function calls into internal helpers are not stable public APIs.

Import-time registration already creates several bpy.types.Object collections; importing is therefore not read-only. Add-on register() adds operators, panels, menu hooks, Scene/WindowManager properties. Generators change selection, active object, cursor-relative object placement, object mode, mesh data, parenting and materials. Many use context-dependent bpy.ops, edit mode, UV unwrap, merge/recalculate operations, modifiers and renderer-name gates. Background default smoke cannot validate every parameter path. draw() paths use space_data.local_view; they require a viewport context.

object.archimesh_cut_holes creates boolean cuts and object.archimesh_pencil_room derives rooms from drawing context. Both are BLOCKED for Gridline host editing. Room import/export and kitchen inventory operators perform file I/O and are not exposed. Gridline retains authority over wall joins, openings, element IDs, dimensions and source state; no shell modifier or existing-project write is authorized by this doctor. Issues #15 and #33 remain in force.

    Licensing and separate assets

NEEDS_LICENSE_REVIEW: the Blender FAQ says distributed Python scripts using Blender's API must be GPL-licensed; its external-software exception requires no Blender API calls. MIT's compatibility with GPL is not a blanket permission to redistribute a combined add-on solely as MIT. This package adds no bpy calls and copies no GPL implementation. The existing MIT-repository blender_native_worker.py uses bpy; its distribution/combined-work boundary needs explicit qualified license review before new API adapters or repackaging. No whole-repository license change is made or implied.

The FAQ describes ordinary .blend output as user-owned, with caveats for embedded scripts. That is not universal clearance for third-party images, models, textures, marks or imported assets. ARCHIMESH has procedural shader helpers (diffuse/glass/glossy/brick/fabric) and one bundled images/fabric_diffuse.png; it is not a PBR/8K asset catalog. This package redistributes neither those helpers nor the image, and does not establish a separate image license.

A future separate opt-in backend may use the Poly Haven API. Its assets are CC0, while the live service requires visible Poly Haven attribution and a unique User-Agent. Recheck full service terms before implementation. The Poly Haven Lite asset extension advertises Blender 5.3+, so it is not accepted on this 5.2.3 host. API content would need independent import tests, explicit download consent, per-asset URL/license/hash, bounded cache/archive handling, UV/PBR texture packing and GLB reimport validation. No Poly Haven assets were downloaded. ambientCG and sprites are outside this package.

    Next gate and review

Package B requires a reviewed licensing/distribution decision and an explicitly approved external add-on source/version before any adapter executes it. Then implement bounded door/window/cabinet request data, new-scene-only generation, and independent evaluated .blend/GLB acceptance with corruption tests. The current smoke results do not satisfy that gate or close #45. Installation from Blender Preferences/Get Extensions or an official verified ZIP requires the user's approval in the chosen profile; this PR performs neither step.

One coding agent performed the bounded source/security/architecture/Ponytail self-review. No independent reviewer, counsel, or professional acceptance is implied. Apple Design's relevant nonvisual guidance is clear feedback and honest failure states; no UI, visual redesign or animation work applies. Provider mirrors and pinned manifests remain coordinated. Test commands/results are recorded in the evidence directory; external provider token/cache/cost receipts are unavailable, and no savings or benchmarks are claimed.

    AutoCAD Mac inspection v1

Related issues: #12, #16. This is a manual AutoLISP console transport, not an MCP connection. No plugin installation, security preference change, automatic script load, native edit, AUDIT, save, plot or DWG conversion occurs through this adapter.

    Work package and permission boundary

Start from main 0a2e9aefa204b90b685556d1fb0c714f719d371b; preserve existing worktrees. Scope: standalone doctor, bounded copy preparation, fixed inspector, console receipt validation, native-evidenced paper-space viewport layer correction and tests. Done means real read metadata when authorized, otherwise explicit NOT_TESTED. Transactions, write approval, full native compatibility and BIM remain separate gates. A second read-only agent reviewed safety independently; no additional model or benchmark calls are part of this package.

    A=skills/autocad-dwg-workflow/scripts/autocad_native.py
    python3 "$A" doctor
    python3 "$A" prepare --root /absolute/selected/samples --drawing A-101.dxf --workspace /private/tmp

prepare reads only the selected relative DXF under the explicit root. It traverses with pinned directory descriptors and no-follow opens; rejects traversal, symlinks, special files and inputs above 16 MiB. Each run creates a private 0700 directory with exclusive 0600 files: a new drawing.dxf, inspect.lsp, and session.json with exact consumed-byte hashes. Preparation does not parse or certify arbitrary DXF safety. Use trusted disposable samples in a local workspace controlled by the operator. Filesystem confinement is macOS/POSIX only; no Windows native transport is advertised.

    1. Confirm AutoCAD's license/startup prompts are complete. Do not share credentials. An education/noncommercial title is a session observation, not independent license entitlement verification.
    2. Open the returned copy in AutoCAD. Confirm its full path and capture opening warnings. Leave client drawings untouched.
    3. Review the generated inspector and its manifest hash. Paste the returned (load "...") expression into the native command line. If AutoCAD shows a security dialog, the operator must approve that single load; never change SECURELOAD or trusted paths.
    4. Run GRIDLINEINSPECT. Loading only defines the command. The command refuses any drawing other than the expected exact path, caps table/entity reads and prints one JSON block between GRIDLINE_READ_BEGIN / GRIDLINE_READ_END. It uses supported AutoLISP reads only, does not issue CAD commands or write files. Close the copy without saving to end the test.
    5. Save the exact observed block as console.txt in the session directory, then run:
    python3 "$A" receipt /absolute/session-directory console.txt

Receipt output goes to stdout, so the operator chooses a new destination if preserving it. It verifies probe/document identity, unchanged source and inspector bytes, DBMOD invariance, counts and basic metadata. READ_PROBED means an operator-captured, unauthenticated console read. It is not an authenticated automated host query; a fabricated console file cannot be distinguished cryptographically. Recheck hashes before use. No untrusted MCP invocation is exposed.

    Coverage and truth states

Doctor reports installed bundle/version, with license UNKNOWN and all native test states NOT_TESTED. Actual console receipts record ACADVER/PLATFORM, INSUNITS, top-level model entity types/counts, layer names/flags/colors, paper layouts, viewport height ratios/flags and cached EXTMIN/EXTMAX. No nested block enumeration, geometry completeness, recomputed extents, layout plot validation or automatic warning collection is claimed. Numeric extents/viewport heights are strings to avoid locale/AutoLISP number-format ambiguity; validate/convert explicitly when comparing them. Compare viewport paper_height/view_height only as a declared scale hint, not proof of plotted output.

Native open warnings must accompany the receipt. AUDIT can modify a drawing and must be separately exercised on another disposable copy. AUDIT, native edit/plot, DWG export, and DWG↔DXF semantic roundtrip remain NOT_TESTED until their own host evidence exists. No AutoCAD 3D capability follows from 2D openability.

    Primary API references checked 2026-10-24

Validation: eight dependency-free adapter tests; the initial pinned CAD-required full suite passed 80 tests with zero skips, followed by the syntax regression test and final-head CI. Provider parity and repository checks are required before delivery. OS/UI permission or manual load refusal never becomes PASS.

    Actual native result, 2026-10-24

The operator permitted the inspector load. AutoCAD returned release 26.0s (LMS Tech), macOS Version 15.7 (Arm64), INSUNITS=4, 149 top-level model-space entities, 18 layers and layout A-101. Entity counts matched an independent ezdxf read of the exact source DXF. DBMOD was already 17 before the probe and remained 17; the receipt does not claim the earlier in-memory state was pristine. The source and copied DXF bytes remained unchanged. Host automatic autosave of its disposable in-memory drawing was observed; no global preferences were changed or original drawing saved.

Native interpreter testing exposed and corrected inspector syntax, nonce JSON quoting and the viewport height DXF group code (41, not width code40). Regression checks cover these observed defects. Autodesk viewport DXF reference and 2027 viewport API establish the height mapping. The corrected native height ratio was 196/19600 = 1:100; this is not a PDF plot check.

AUDIT with repairs disabled (_.AUDIT, _N) reported two errors for the same overall paper-space viewport handle23E on VIEWPORTS. Independent DXF inspection confirmed viewport ID1 on VIEWPORTS. The generator now puts only that overall viewport on layer0, and the checker rejects the old assignment. Fresh A-101/A-102 files both opened in AutoCAD and returned 0 errors, 0 fixed, 0 erased on native no-repair AUDIT. The model-view viewport remains on the profile's nonplot layer and keeps its scale/lock. No prior sample was overwritten.

See AUTOCAD_INSPECTION_EVIDENCE.json for per-file hashes and captured audit evidence. The local A-102 native screenshot confirms visible geometry after zoom extents. Font substitutions remain known losses (including room-area glyph appearance); no native plot, edit/DWG export, geometry-completeness, layer-semantic roundtrip or professional approval is inferred. Issue #16 remains open.

Local Blender native model bridge (first proof)

Status: Bounded local 3D modeling proof. The scripts/blender_native.py tool can generate a new native Blender scene and glTF binary from Gridline's existing building-spec.v1 wall/opening/level subset. This is not image-to-3D, photoreal rendering, complete architectural detailing, safe authoring of existing projects, IFC delivery, a Blender MCP server, or CAD/BIM certification.

    Current host and usage

On the maintainer's Mac, Blender 5.2.3 LTS was detected at /Applications/Blender.app/Contents/MacOS/Blender. A model and a GLB were built and separately reopened/read back on this installed host using skills/architectural-drawing-generation/references/example-house.building.json. This is a sample proof, not an independently reviewed production deliverable.

    python3 scripts/blender_native.py doctor
    python3 scripts/blender_native.py build \
      skills/architectural-drawing-generation/references/example-house.building.json \
      /path/to/NEW-output-directory

The destination must not exist. For installed portable Gridline skills, run python3 scripts/blender_native.py doctor and build from the installed architectural-drawing-generation skill directory; it includes the worker and building-spec validator. The repository-level launcher above is only a convenience.

Only an explicitly provided NEW output directory is used; Blender is started in background factory mode. No Blender preferences or existing model are changed. The script does not install a plugin or modify Codex's global MCP configuration. Optional --blender /path/to/Blender selects a trusted executable (verify its publisher and version first). A failed build returns nonzero and does not advertise a successful model.

    Result:

    • model.blend: Blender source scene with named mesh objects and retained gridline_id, levels and opening-host metadata.
    • model.glb: glTF scene for viewers or import into supported downstream 3D applications.
    • scene.json: exact typed geometry inputs, transformed from millimetres to metres.
    • verification.json: independent native Blender and GLB readbacks with IDs, host/source-unit metadata, materials, world-space mesh bounds, measured per-object world-corner error and documented tolerance.
    • receipt.json: source-spec hash, checksums for model.blend, model.glb and verification.json, separate scene_sha256 (for scene.json), adapter and worker source hashes, host version, format statuses and known unverified scope.

The renderer does not infer roofs, slabs, foundations, stairs, furniture, detailed door/window construction, structure, MEP or materials from the existing 2D source. Source wall occupancy boxes are combined into continuous orthogonal boundary meshes, subtracting declared opening envelopes through the host thickness. Compatible walls share a mesh per level/material/explicit joint group; gridline_source_ids maps every original wall ID, and opening members keep their original host IDs. scene.json retains the source boxes; receipt.json distinguishes their count from the exported mesh count. Mixed oblique joins fail explicitly. No gap is snapped shut. Door leaves and glazing are illustrative boxes. The output is a conceptual 3D source model with editable Blender mesh geometry, not a fully parametric native BIM object system.

Native readback checks both formats for object counts/names, Gridline IDs/kind/host/source units, material assignment and world-space mesh corners, including rotation and parent transforms. Native scene units must be metric at scale 1. Tolerances are 0.25 mm (.blend) and 1 mm (GLB); these are fixture comparison limits, not construction tolerances. Union-boundary checks additionally validate face winding, closed edges, vertex fans, orphan vertices and signed volume against an independent analytic sweep of source occupancy minus apertures (0.01 mm readback weld; volume threshold max(0.001 m³, expected volume × 1e-5)). Raw GLB triangles are checked before Blender import can sanitize them. Coordinate construction rounds to 0.0001 mm in a common rotated orthogonal basis; this is not a gap-closing tolerance. This does not establish construction intent, material parity, complete UV/texture delivery or compatibility beyond the exercised Blender 5.2.3 paths. See measured villa repair for coverage and exclusions.

Image reference fidelity is a future, evidence-gated task

For high-detail reconstruction, Gridline must capture an image inventory and compare each modeled element to the original reference: source image and consent; camera/projection estimate; visible facade volumes; storeys; roof/profile; fenestration positions and proportions; materials; landscape/context; ambiguous or occluded sides; and source-backed measured dimensions. A single perspective photo generally cannot determine hidden rooms, precise measurements or actual materials. Require floor plans, additional views, survey/site geometry or user confirmation when needed; never silently invent detail and mark it verified. Track every observable feature with a source region, confidence, target Gridline element and verification outcome. Render matching camera views and ask human reviewers to confirm discrepancies; never substitute visual similarity for dimensional or BIM validation.

AutoCAD on macOS is a separate bridge

Autodesk's AutoCAD for Mac exposes AutoLISP and ObjectARX interfaces, with different capabilities from Windows .NET/ActiveX and from AutoCAD LT for Mac. Follow official version-matched Autodesk API documentation and validate actual host installation before developing a bounded LISP/DXF/DWG roundtrip on a disposable drawing. See AutoCAD programming interfaces.

On 2026-10-24, AutoCAD 2027 for Mac was installed/running (bundle 26.0.60.171). A disposable sample DXF was visibly opened with font substitutions. Independent license entitlement, metadata inspector execution, AUDIT, edit/plot and DWG↔DXF roundtrip remain unverified. A security dialog awaiting operator approval is not a successful native query. No AutoCAD MCP connection is claimed.

    Next gates

    1. Approval-bound semantic project revision state and constraints #15.
    2. Authenticated, restricted native adapters #12; this prototype is callable through the local CLI, not MCP.
    3. More accurate architectural topology, level/slab/roof intent, material recipes, reference-image comparison and real exports #13.
    4. True IFC semantic checks #11, DXF/DWG native AutoCAD acceptance #16, and independent professional checks.

Never claim a universal, bugless or construction-ready model. A real loaded 3D scene is useful evidence, but not professional design approval.

    Readback hardening work package (2026-10-24)

Originally developed against PR #23 (since merged), reviewed head 72f3d3a1ef4e9b1cce5eeafa05b3d32c0fc7e645. Independent read-only review found orientation/parenting false PASS, omitted GLB identity validation, unbounded source allocation and path-based publication races. Scope is those defects, not higher-detail modeling. Reserved identity metadata can no longer be overwritten by an opening's semantic kind; the real native test exposed that collision.

Source reads pin directory components, reject symlinks/special files, and consume at most 1 MiB + 1 bytes. The CLI uses the explicitly selected local source; it is not an untrusted MCP endpoint. Child processes disable embedded autoexecution, use a fixed worker and propagate Python exceptions as nonzero exits. Publication pins directory descriptors and uses exclusive no-follow file creation; a swapped path cannot redirect artifact writes. receipt.json is written last. Partial new directories can remain on failure and must be quarantined; this is not atomic directory publication or a last-good revision manager. No existing output directory is replaced.

Historical PR #25 acceptance on Blender 5.2.3 LTS generated and reopened 42 meshes / 17 wall-opening elements; the topology repair now exports 11 meshes from those same 42 source boxes. Four real disposable corruption cases (90-degree rotation, parent displacement, GLB identity deletion and missing material) were rejected. The exact local command is:

    /Applications/Blender.app/Contents/MacOS/Blender --background --factory-startup \
      --disable-autoexec --python-exit-code 1 --python tests/blender_native_acceptance.py \
      -- /absolute/generated-package

The dedicated acceptance script only loads the generated fixture and creates owned temporary corrupted copies. Original native files remain unchanged. Eleven deterministic bridge tests run without Blender; this native script runs separately and is not a fake CI host test. See docs/BLENDER_HARDENING_EVIDENCE.json for measured errors, hashes and declared coverage. This historical receipt predates the topology repair. Material shader appearance, textures, source-photo fidelity and general architectural correctness remain unverified; current bounded topology evidence is linked above. No new roof, floor, stair or other design dimensions are invented in this package.

Verified unresolved defects and safety boundaries

    • The Codex audit documents that deleting one opening LINE in generated A-101 can leave the old checker reporting PASS. This defect is not fixed by PR #19.
    • Other documented gaps: missing drawing-relevant input change detection (e.g., grids/units), non-transitive wall→hosted opening→detail impact, mixed-revision artifact publication on interrupted builds, and potentially race-prone file-path validation in the read-only MCP helper.
    • A separate uncommitted verification worktree observed on the maintainer's Mac is not part of main and cannot count as shipped. When a reviewed implementation PR merges, re-audit the issue acceptance criteria and update this ledger and the relevant issue comments.
    • A model-agnostic skill is guidance, not permission to edit a licensed CAD application; local ezdxf checks are not native AutoCAD acceptance; IDS information requirements are not equivalent to geometry, fire, accessibility or permit compliance.

Each tracked issue receives an explicit status comment with what shipped, PR evidence, what remains and why it stays open. Close an issue only after all of its stated acceptance criteria have been independently verified and link the implementing PR/tests. Historical closed or merged PRs are not open feature issues and are not re-closed.

For the next stages, consult ROADMAP.md, NEXT_AEC_PHASES.md and the Codex audit. Current issue state should always be verified live on GitHub; this document is a dated snapshot.

    Drawing and Blueprint Outputs

Gridline can help plan site plans, floor plans, roof plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, construction details, diagrams and schedules. Complete, editable drawings come from a connected native CAD/BIM host; the bundled fallback produces simple conceptual vector drawings.

    Authoring priority

Native editable model/drawing > verified exchange workflow > repository SVG/DXF fallback > textual instructions.

When Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, IFC/Bonsai or another trusted authoring host is connected, use its native objects and verify the live document.

When no native host is available, the architectural-drawing-generation skill ships two engines.

    Coordinated CAD pipeline (scripts/aec_cad.py)

One building spec (levels, grids, walls, openings, rooms, sheets, title data, in millimetres) produces the whole set, so a change made once reaches every output:

    • one DXF per sheet: the plan in model space at 1:1 and a paper-space layout with a frame using ISO 5457 margins, a title block within ISO 7200's 180 mm width, a status stamp, a scale bar, a north arrow and a locked viewport at the sheet scale;
    • a vector PDF per sheet;
    • room, door and window schedules and a sheet register (CSV).

Every sheet PDF is required: build exits nonzero if any cannot be generated, including when matplotlib is unavailable. Partial files can remain after a failed build; do not publish them. check also rejects missing PDFs and retains a failure receipt for CSV parser errors, including oversized fields.

Layers, lineweights, text sizes, paper sizes and statuses come from a standards profile: iso13567 (default), ncs, or an office profile that extends one of them.

    pip install ezdxf==1.4.5 matplotlib==3.11.2 pypdf==6.21.2
    D=skills/architectural-drawing-generation
    python3 $D/scripts/aec_cad.py build $D/references/example-house.building.json /tmp/example-house
    python3 $D/scripts/aec_cad.py check $D/references/example-house.building.json /tmp/example-house

check reads exact output snapshots and independently compares wall outlines, opening jamb/frame/leaf/swing primitives and room boundaries with the spec (0.01 mm tolerance). Missing, changed and duplicated critical primitives fail with sheet/element evidence. New entities carry GRIDLINE XDATA; legacy entities can be matched geometrically. These associations have not been proven through a native roundtrip.

The required PDF gate parses the actual vector stream: one page, intended page dimensions and straight plan segments at the intended plot mapping (0.05 point tolerance). It detects missing, blank, wrong-sheet and incorrectly scaled PDFs. It does not establish raster visibility, clipping, font quality, door-arc plotting or annotation collision freedom. Existing standards, title/tag/schedule checks remain, including the sheet-register date. A missing validator fails rather than silently passing.

check-report.json retains the old errors, warnings, standard and checked keys and adds a versioned receipt with exact consumed spec/profile/output hashes, validator file/dependency versions, Git source revision, artifact manifest hash and explicit per-gate coverage. Each run also retains receipts/<id>.json. A missing/oversized input has a null hash with a failure diagnostic; it is never described as inspected. Legacy PDFs without document metadata report identity UNKNOWN; geometry still must match. Standalone installs without tracked Git source report code_sha: "UNKNOWN" while retaining validator file hashes. See receipt contract.

PASS means supported local 2D checks passed. Grid positions, dimension/hatch geometry, topology, complete source-detail coverage, semantic 3D, IFC/IDS, native AutoCAD and professional approval remain explicitly unverified. The checker does not verify arbitrary external drawing sets. It currently draws plans only; sections, elevations and details are not generated. Use a fresh output directory for every revision until staged atomic publication is implemented; retained receipts bind snapshots, not future edits to mutable files.

For detailed models from briefs, images, maquettes or top-down drawings, first retain a source-detail inventory: each requirement/observed feature, provenance, dimensions, confidence, model element and verification state. Missing scale, hidden geometry and conflicting details require resolution. Unsupported items remain UNKNOWN/BLOCKED; do not infer completion from render appearance. Semantic 3D and native exchange follow the prerequisite gates in the implementation package plan.

    Simple diagrams (scripts/aec_draw.py)

The dependency-free scripts/aec_draw.py can render an explicit JSON drawing specification to:

    • editable SVG for diagrams and conceptual architectural drawings;
    • ASCII DXF entities for interchange and continued CAD editing.

    Example:

    python3 skills/architectural-drawing-generation/scripts/aec_draw.py skills/architectural-drawing-generation/references/concept-plan.drawing.json /tmp/concept-plan.svg
    python3 skills/architectural-drawing-generation/scripts/aec_draw.py skills/architectural-drawing-generation/references/concept-plan.drawing.json /tmp/concept-plan.dxf

It ships inside the skill folder, so it is available after every install path. It draws six primitives: line, rect, circle, polyline, text and dimension. It has no wall, door, hatch, title-block or scale-bar entities; compose those from primitives or use a native host.

The fallback never derives missing dimensions. Its default footer is CONCEPT / NOT FOR CONSTRUCTION. A human must verify geometry, dimensions, code/engineering coordination and intended issue status before professional use.

    Skill evaluation

The repository keeps provider-neutral activation cases in evals/activation-cases.json.

    What CI proves

CI checks that every stable canonical skill has at least two positive natural-language activation cases; case IDs are unique; target skills exist in skills/manifest.json; negative controls are present; and provider-copied skills remain synchronized.

These are structural guarantees, not claims about model behavior.

    Behavioral evaluation

A real model/runtime must execute the prompts to measure whether the intended skill activates and whether the result follows the skill contract.

Claude Code provides claude plugin eval. Those evals make real model calls and consume plan/API usage, so they are intentionally not run automatically by the repository's free CI.

For Codex/OpenAI, use the portable cases as the seed set for skill evals and compare behavior before and after skill changes.

For Gemini CLI, use the same prompts to verify skill activation after /skills reload or in a clean extension session.

    Offline scoring of real observations

Run every fixture through the actual target provider with Gridline installed. Record the observed skill, not the expected answer, as JSONL:

    {"case_id":"orchestrator-multidiscipline-01","provider":"codex","runtime_version":"recorded-runtime-version","activated_skill":"architecture-orchestrator"}

Use null for no activation, including negative controls. Record every case from evals/activation-cases.json exactly once, one provider per file, and consistent optional runtime_version. Never synthesize expected answers and report them as behavioral evidence.

    python3 scripts/score-activation-evals.py --observations codex-observations.jsonl --json-out codex-report.json
    python3 scripts/score-activation-evals.py --observations codex-after.jsonl --baseline codex-before.jsonl --fail-on-regression --min-skill-recall 0.75

The dependency-free scorer reports overall accuracy, positive recall, negative-control false-positive rate, per-skill recall, failed cases and SHA-256 input provenance. Default gates: accuracy >= 0.85, positive recall >= 0.80, negative false-positive rate <= 0.10. Baseline comparisons identify newly failing and recovered cases even when aggregate accuracy is unchanged; different runtime versions are allowed, different providers are not. Exit codes: 0 pass, 1 gate failure, 2 invalid input/error. The optional JSON report is written atomically and cannot overwrite fixture or observation inputs.

CI automatically runs deterministic scorer unit tests without model calls. Actual provider behavioral evaluations require an explicit maintainer run and are not included in the CI accuracy claim.

    Maintainer rule

When adding a stable skill, add at least two realistic activation cases. When tightening a description, add a regression case for wording that previously failed or over-triggered.
